June 16, 2013 – Istanbul, Turkey: Protesters clash with anti-riot police after a peaceful rally in Gezi park. police cleared out Gezi Park of protestors (who had occupied the park for two weeks) with battles continuing into the early morning hours. Police used water cannons, laced with a chemical that causes skin burns, tear gas and sound grenades to disperse the crowds. between police and those protesting the government of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
